Technical difficulties...

We apologize to anyone that's had trouble downloading episode 7 (or any other episode for that matter). It was discovered yesterday that our hosting site, MyPodcast.com, has absolutely no technical support in place anymore. When I read that, I got a feeling like this:

They basically said "You're on your own. Good luck!" For questions/problems, they referred users to the FAQ or the forums, where every other user is just as clueless and annoyed.

So in 2009, Comic Book Pitt will be hosted at a new location. Once everything is set up, we'll naturally update the listeners and every social networking site we can.
Happy New Year!

My Comic Book Christmas wish list

marvel holiday special 2006

I've been a good little comic book geek all year and here's what I want for Christmas from the comic book industry:

1. No more events for a while
2. Ease up on raising prices
3. Characters that die should stay dead
4. Brian K Vaughan to write 'Heroes'
5. A return to greatness for both the JLA & the Avengers
6. Rob Liefeld to stay far, far away from comics
7. Brian Michael Bendis to actually end a storyline
8. To see Hawkeye back in his costume
9. The conclusion to Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine
10. Preacher and/or Hitman to be collected in hardcover editions

I could go on and on, because I'm a nerdy fanboy, but that's enough for now.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer [True HD]

Episode 5 is up

Well, Scott and I finally got together to record the new show before the week's end and it was probably one of the funniest ones yet (to us, at least). You can tell that we've both had long weeks because we really go off the rails a couple of times (and I inadvertently managed to insult Jewish people), but we spent about an hour editing most of the goofiness out.

Also, if you haven't watched the trailer for X-Men: Origins Wolverine, definitely take two minutes out of your day and watch it. You're sure to have a nerdgasm over all the characters they show.

Episode 5 update

Due to personal obligations that Scott and I both have this week, we're not going to be recording Episode 5 until Thursday. Look for the new episode either late Thursday or Friday.

This week's comic purchases

My dog woke me out of a sound sleep at 4:45am because he needed to go out and now I'm wide awake. I figure what better time than to post a blog entry?

This was a pretty light week for me. Weeks like this used to bother me because I wouldn't have a lot of stuff to read, but with the price of comics these days, I'm happy to come away spending less than $20.

*ECHO #8 (Abstract Studios)
CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI 13 #8 (Marvel)
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #27 (DC)
*PUNISHER WAR ZONE #1 (OF 6) (Marvel)
*SECRET INVASION DARK REIGN (Marvel)

*to be discussed on the next episode

Other books I read this week were The Ultimates Vol. 2 hardcover collection and both Young Avengers' trade paperbacks. We briefly mentioned the Young Avengers on the last episode which spurred my interest in rereading the short-lived series. I had forgotten how well crafted it was. When I see Jim Cheung's art it makes me sad that he's not currently doing a monthly book. If you've never read YA, it's well worth the time to seek out the two collections (or one hardcover collection) and treat yourself to a great comic book series.

The official blog of CBP

The one drawback to MyPodcast.com is that you can't post an entry on your site without an audio file attached. Occasionally we may have something to say about comic books or something related (or completely unrelated) that falls outside of our regular weekly recording, hence the separate blog for the Comic Book Pitt Podcast.

Anyway, here's what I purchased/read this week:

Agents of Atlas HC (Marvel), by Jeff Parker & Leonard Kirk
Dreamer #2 (IDW), by Lora Innes
*Haunted Tank #1 (DC/Vertigo), by Frank Marraffino & Henry Flint
Immortal Iron Fist #20 (Marvel), by Duane Swierczynski & Travel Foreman
Justice Society of America #21 (DC), by Geoff Johns, Dale Eaglesham, Jerry Ordway & Alex Ross
*New Avengers #47 (Marvel), by Brian Michael Bendis & Billy Tan
*Secret Invasion #8 of 8 (Marvel), by Brian Michael Bendis & Lenil Francis Yu
Terra #3 of 4 (DC), by Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray & Amanda Conner

* I'm going to talk about these on the 12/8 episode of CBP
