Issue #3 is still my favorite,  but the comic reminds me of why Feminism is so great, all of the comradery with minimal hate, the essays in the back are also what rank it as my #1. I feel like Bitch Planet managed to bring a lot of readers together, and even sparked a tattoo trend before the second issue was even out."

"2015 was a great year to be a comic book fan. Between The rise of Creator Owned, Marvel bringing their A game and even DC producing compelling content, the contenders of Years Best Comic are more plentiful than ever. But for me, the best comic of 2015 has to be Saga. It's funny and filthy and violent and emotional and, for a book about aliens it's remarkably human. It's wonderful AND it's drawn by Fiona Staples. That fact alone puts it in the top 10. It's like a very specific kind of magic and I can't wait to see where they go next."

Batman, by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo (DC Comics)

"My pick has to be Batman #40 by Snyder and Capullo. Sure, Batman has fought the Joker plenty of times, but never like this and never TO THE DEATH! Snyder's joker is brutally maniacal and doesn't hesistate to do things like... bury a hatchet in Jim Gordon's chest?! What!?! The big twist about the Joker in the issues leading up to this final battle was really great. No spoilers! You should pick it up for yourself. Capullo's run on Batman is a masterclass of visual storytelling. It's a must own, especially if you can score a first printing."

Clive Barker’s Nightbreed (Boom Studios): Adapted from the cult movie that was  written/directed by Clive Barker, this book gives added background to the monsters of Midian. If you’re a fan of the movie, I highly recommend this comic. The movie serves as an introduction but you never truly get a feel for all the characters involved. The book does this. In addition, the book acts as a sequel to the film that has hinted at but never produced.

Rat Queens (Image Comics): My favorite read of the moment. Humor, debauchery, blood, guts, & mayhem all coming from four little women. Just a fun overall read. I wish i had gotten into Rat Queens from the start, but now that I’m invested I give it my highest recommendation.

Birthright (Image Comics): Another book high on my list right now. Birthright combines elements that remind me of 80’s family and fantasy films like Flight of the Navigator and Legend. Image right now is consistently putting out the best in comics.

New Suicide Squad (DC Comics): Prepare for a whole new book of villains turned government lackey hit squad. If you read the old Suicide Squad books, nothing much has changed. If you’re new to the Suicide Squad, this is good place as any to start and get familiarized with the team. If this book survives DC’s upcoming Convergence story arc, I expect it to gain popularity in anticipation of the upcoming Suicide Squad film.

Wicked & Divine (Image Comics): Modern society often treats celebrities as gods. What if they actually were gods? This is the premise that the Wicked & Divine explores and it does it in the most awesome way possible.

Grayson (DC Comics): After the events of Forever Evil, Dick Grayson can't go back to the life that he and the public knows him for. Thus, he creates a new life for himself: Secret Agent 37 for the Spyral Organization.

Southern Bastards (Image Comics): Earl Tubb returns to his hometown after 40 years to put the finishing touches on the sale of his boyhood home. Upon arriving, he is reminded of the demons that kept him away for so long. However, this time Earl is bent on beating the demons, literally, with a baseball bat before he leaves town.

Spread (Image Comics): This book has elements that remind me of such titles as The Walking Dead, Saga, Wolverine, and the Baby Hope story arc from Cable. If you like any of these titles, check out Spread.
