Comic Book Pitt Special: Pittsburgh Comicon 2011!

The first video from Pittsburgh Comicon 2011 is here and I feel like a proud papa! Thanks so much to Mike Sorg from Sorgatron Media, host of the Wrestling Mayhem Show and the AwesomeCast for his great camera work and the editing magic he performed.

Look for future video interviews here and at Sorgatron Media.

CBP Micro-casts!

Sometimes it's frustrating being a podcaster...in a good way, of course! There are so many things to talk about in the world of comic books...new issues, back issues, story lines, conventions, news stories, opinions, etc. We try to fit as much as we can into the regular episodes of Comic Book Pitt, but as there is a wealth of information that we could talk about for hours and hours, we also have to temper our excitement of the medium and try to keep the episodes manageable.

So what about the stuff that falls in between the cracks? Well, let me introduce you to AudioBoo. It's a mobile/web platform that allows you to record short, five-minute audio clips that you can share. I downloaded the AudioBoo app on to my iPhone and recorded the first "microcast" (yep, that's what I'm calling them) from the comfort of my bed last night, it's literally that simple to use.

So check out the first microcast over at the Comic Book Pitt profile page and keep your eyes out for more micro-content. If you're so inclined, give AudioBoo a try yourself and let us know what you think.

Afrodisiac, The King of the Concrete Jungle

If you've never read Jim Rugg & Brian Maruca's AFRODISIAC, then shame on you. You're missing out on one of the most entertaining and unapologetic combinations of late-20th century comic genres mixed with superfly blaxploitation.

AdHouse Books has made the ENTIRE 96-page book available to read for FREE! Take advantage of this while you can, I promise you won't be disappointed. If you like what you read, pick up a copy and show Jim and Brian your support so we can see more AFRODISIAC.

Captain America #1

Just like we all figured would happen eventually, Steve Rogers is back in uniform and slinging the red, white and blue shield. CAPTAIN AMERICA #1, with the creative team of Ed Brubaker and Steve McNiven, will ship in July, right around the time that Captain America: The First Avenger is released. However, the ongoing Captain America title will not be going away. Instead with issue #620, it will be re-titled CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BUCKY and will focus on the title characters' adventures during WWII. Ed Brubaker will be co-writing with Marc Andreyko, with art by Chris Samnee.
